The unique clubhead design with perimeter weighting and a larger sweet spot offers performance improvement similar to cavity-back irons.

It incorporates all the wedge technology that Cleveland Golf is known for, including Rotex Face Technology, Feel Balancing Technology, and Dual V Sole Grind, for a good feel, spin, and versatility. Overall, the CBX wedge is worth it for high-handicap golfers.

II. My experience review with Cleveland CBX Wedge

I strongly believe that wedges hold significant importance in a golfer’s bag. A wedge has the power to either enhance or hinder your short game. Therefore, I am extremely meticulous when it comes to selecting a wedge, dedicating ample time to testing them before making a purchase. As a result, when I had the opportunity to try out the Cleveland CBX Wedge, I eagerly tried it.

During my test, the first thing I noticed was its forgiveness. The club delivered solid results even on off-center shots, which was especially evident when hitting out of bunkers. The clubhead seemed to glide through the sand with ease, making it easier for me to escape trouble.

Another thing I noticed about this wedge was its feel. The clubhead felt solid and responsive in my hands, giving me confidence in every shot. And the sound of the ball coming off the clubface was satisfying, letting me know that I had hit a good shot before even looking up to see where the ball had gone.

While the CBX Wedge may not be the most versatile option available, it works effectively for standard chip and pitch shots

It may not be the ideal choice for more advanced shots like flop shots or bunker shots. However, for golfers seeking a reliable and versatile wedge to improve their short game, this club is a solid option.

My test stats

To further analyze the performance of the CBX wedges, I tested 60 degrees lob wedge in a simulator room.

During my testing, I noticed their ability to generate a high launch angle of 31.3 degrees, which resulted in soft landings on the green.

The ball speed of 55 mph made it easier to get out of tricky situations with ease. Moreover, the backspin rate of 7452 rpm allowed me to control the ball on the green and stop it exactly where I wanted it.

The consistency of these wedges was noteworthy, with a side angle of just 0.7 R°, making it easier for me to aim and hit my target.

III. In terms of performance factors

To get a better idea of how the Cleveland CBX Wedge performs on the golf course, take a closer look at each contributing factor.

1. Forgiveness (Score – 9/10)

The Cleveland CBX Wedges are designed to be a forgiving wedge with a cavity back that redistributes 76g of mass from the center of the head to the perimeter and sole.

This design not only improves the moment of inertia (MOI) of the club but also provides better distance control and more consistent shots, even on off-center hits.

As a result, golfers can anticipate hitting the ball closer to the flag more frequently, regardless of how they strike the ball.

2. Looks (Score – 7/10)

The club’s design is clean and simple, which makes it easy to line up and address the ball.  This wedge has a classic look that I personally like.

However, I’ve seen some other wedges with more modern designs that catch the eye a bit more. Consequently, the visual appeal of these wedges may not be appealing to all golf enthusiasts.

3. Feel (Score – 8/10)

When it comes to the feel of the club, the CBX Wedge is a true standout. The club has a soft and smooth feel when you strike the ball, which gives you added confidence and control.

You can easily tell the club head position throughout the swing, which allows for more precision in your shots.

4. Consistency and performance (Score – 9/10)

The CBX Wedge offers consistent results. It glides smoothly through the turf, which allows for cleaner contact with the ball. This feature helped me to minimize chunked or fat shots and improved my performance on the course.

IV. Features and benefits of Cleveland CBX Wedge

It offers a range of features and benefits that can help improve your accuracy, control, and overall performance on the course, let’s closer look:

1. Rotex Face Technology

The Cleveland CBX Wedge boasts a game-changing Rotex Face Technology, which offers sharper and deeper grooves for maximum spin and control. Golfers can expect to achieve consistent results with every shot, it spins more across the wedge’s face.

Cleveland CBX Wedge grooves over the clubface

Cleveland ensures that every wedge maximizes friction and spin by incorporating four tiny laser milling lines between each groove. These milling lines push the face roughness to the limit of the rules set by the USGA.

The Tour Zip grooves, with their sharp edge radius, are designed to enhance contact and eliminate fliers. Cleveland achieves this by making the grooves deeper and narrower.

2. Feel Balancing Technology

Another notable feature of the Cleveland CBX Wedge is Feel Balancing Technology. This technology distributes weight to the heel and toe of the club for better feel and control, regardless of where the ball hits the face.

As a result, golfers can expect a more stable clubface and increased accuracy with every shot.

3. Dual V Sole Grind

The Dual V Sole Grind on the Cleveland CBX Wedge is designed to improve turf interaction, making it easier for golfers to hit cleaner shots with more consistency. The grind allows the club to glide smoothly through the turf, resulting in more accurate shots.

4. Progressive Size and Weighting

Golfers can expect improved performance with the Cleveland CBX Wedge’s progressive size and weighting system.

Lower lofted wedges are designed to be easy to hit with a smaller profile and lighter weight, while higher lofted wedges are heavier with a larger profile to provide better control and feel.
