I. Is Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter worth it?

The Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter stands out for its affordability without compromising quality. It offers a good feel and feedback, enhancing your putting confidence, and boasts customizable heel and toe weights for adaptability.

However, it’s only available in a single-length option and may exhibit some performance inconsistencies, especially for aggressive putting styles. Therefore, make sure to measure the length of your putter before considering this option.

The KS1 offers value but has limitations, so your decision should align with your unique preferences on the green.

II. My Experience With Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter

In my quest to improve my putting skills, I came across the KS1 putter. Among the various types of putters available, I have a personal preference for blade putters. So, let’s delve into the Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter review to know how it performed for me from both 5-feet and 10-feet putting shots.

1. Performance From Five Feet

Starting with those crucial five-foot putts, I noticed that distance control wasn’t the strong suit of the KS1 Putter from this range. Two noteworthy factors became apparent during my testing.

The grip also delivered tactile feedback, offering a comfortable and natural feel in my hands and enhancing control during my long putts. However, you have to understand how to grip a putter to unlock its full potential.

Firstly, the putter face felt closed, and secondly, the putter head had a relatively high loft. Now, the closed face can be forgiving when you’re dealing with longer putts, helping to maintain a straight roll.

However, within the five-foot range, it posed a bit of a challenge. It tended to push putts slightly left, causing them to miss the cup.

2. Performance From 10 Feet

Shifting back to a distance of 10 feet, the KS1 Putter appeared to hit its stride. This is where I observed the best results with this putter.

Achieving consistent putts from 10 feet requires stability in your hands, and that’s where the SuperStroke grip truly shone. It provided the control and confidence I needed to sink those putts more consistently from this range.

My test stats

After a few rounds on the golf course, I decided to take the Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter to a simulator room with a launch monitor to dive deeper into my experience. Here’s how my test results unfolded and how each parameter contributed to the shots:

ParametersMy Test Stats
Club speed3.3 mph
Ball speed5.2 mph
Roll88 %
Distance 10.8 yards

Let’s talk about club speed – the KS1 Putter had a club speed of 3.3 mph in my testing. This moderate pace felt comfortable, especially for mid-long range putts like the 10-footer I was focusing on. It allowed me to maintain control over my stroke and not overexert myself, ensuring a smooth and consistent putting motion.

Next up, we have ball speed. The KS1 Putter generated a ball speed of 5.2 mph. Now, this might not be the fastest ball speed out there, but for a 10-foot putt, it proved to be just right.

Roll is a critical factor when it comes to putting, and the KS1 Putter excelled in this department. It delivered a noteworthy 88% roll, meaning that most of the energy from the initial strike was converted into a forward roll.

This efficient roll greatly contributed to the accuracy of my putts. It allowed me to read the greens more effectively, knowing that the ball would behave predictably on its path to the hole.

KS1 Putter achieved a distance of 10.8 yards on a 10-foot putt. The putter’s balance and face technology seemed to shine here, providing the stability needed for such precise control.

III. Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter Review – In Terms Of Performance factors

There is a lot of debate on putting, whether it’s easy or difficult. But if you ask me, I would say a great putting stroke is a combination of great skill and good clubs. So, considering the performance factors of putters makes a lot of sense.

Let’s see how this Costco putter can impact your game:

1. Distance control (Score – 7/10)

In terms of distance control, I found that the KS1 Putter requires some practice.

While the adjustable heel and toe weights helped fine-tune the putter’s balance, notably benefiting long putts, achieving precise distance control on short putts primarily depends on practice and skill.

In this area, the Kirkland signature putter need some room for improvement.

2. Performance (Score – 8/10)

Performance-wise, this Kirkland Putter is noteworthy, particularly when you take its affordability into account. It delivers a solid and consistent feel, which can significantly boost confidence on the greens.

However, some golfers might find it slightly inconsistent when compared to more high-end blade putters. Nonetheless, it remains a suitable choice for those seeking a balance between performance and budget.

3. Looks (Score – 9/10)

The KS1 Putter features a sleek blade putter design that captures attention and provides a sense of assurance when addressing the ball.

Its clean and minimalistic lines contribute to its visual appeal, making it stand out among the clubs in golf bag. The classic design is versatile and likely to accommodate a variety of golfer preferences.

4. Sound and Feel (Score – 9/10)

I found that the SuperStroke grip with CounterCore technology is crafted to minimize unwanted wrist motion during my putting stroke, ensuring a stable and consistent roll on the greens.

The grip also delivered tactile feedback, offering a comfortable and natural feel in my hands and enhancing control during my long putts.

However, I went to a local Costco store to add rubber cement inside the club head to hold the washers, preventing the putter from feeling too light. This adjustment significantly contributed to the satisfying sound and feel, making it feel like a completely different club.

IV. Features and benefits of Kirkland signature KS1 putter

Let’s break down the features of the Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter and see how each one can impact your performance on the golf course:

1. 100% CNC Milled 303 Stainless Steel

The KS1 putter’s construction from 100% CNC milled 303 stainless steel stands out for its impact on performance.

This high-quality material provides a solid, consistent feel that I found to be quite reassuring during every stroke.

Furthermore, the well-thought weight distribution in the stainless steel putter head adds stability, effectively minimizing those frustrating moments when your putting stroke veers off track.

2. Fully Adjustable Heel and Toe Weighting

The KS1 putter offers notable customization options, making it a versatile choice for golfers. Its fully adjustable heel and toe weighting allow you to finely tune the putter’s balance to align with your distinct putting style and adapt to various course conditions.

Given that the putter comes in only one size, this feature becomes particularly significant, allowing you to optimize your performance based on your specific preferences and the challenges of the course.

3. SuperStroke Grip

The connection you establish with the putter grip plays a pivotal role in your putting performance, and the KS1 understands that.

It comes with a SuperStroke grip designed as the CounterCore Mid Slim 2.0, a feature that effectively reduces unwanted wrist movements during your stroke.

This design contributes to a notably stable and consistent roll on the greens, enhancing your overall putting experience.

V. Alternatives

In the dynamic golf world, exploring alternatives is a key step toward enhancing your game. So, here are a few options:

1. Scotty Cameron Newport Putter

Scotty Cameron Newport is a premium alternative to the Kirkland Signature KS1 and is often seen with tour professional golfers. It’s renowned for craftsmanship and precision, favored by pros and amateurs alike.

Balanced weight distribution ensures stability, aiding consistent roll and distance control, although it comes at a higher price point. However, in terms of comparison, it’s important to note that a premium Scotty Cameron putter and the KS1 Putter are not directly comparable.

2. Odyssey White Hot OG

Another budget-friendly option is the Odyssey White Hot OG Putter, known for its innovative design and the iconic White Hot insert, delivering a soft yet responsive feel.

Its mallet head shape enhances forgiveness and alignment, making it effective for improving accuracy and consistency on the greens. With multiple head shapes and lengths to choose from, you can find the ideal White Hot OG model to suit your putting style and preferences.

My Take

The KS1 Putter, despite its performance quirks, can still be a valuable tool in your golf equipment arsenal. It may not be the top choice for those critical short putts, but it certainly has its strengths, particularly when facing longer putts.
