I. Is Wilson D9 Forged Irons worth it?

The Wilson D9 Forged Irons are a new set of distance irons designed for golfers who seek both accuracy and distance in their shots. These clubs have a classic appearance but incorporate modern technology to improve ball trajectory and forgiveness, even on off-center hits.

The small clubhead offers a good feel with slightly weaker lofts than traditional forged irons, making them an ideal choice for golfers who prefer that style.

Overall, the Wilson D9 Forged Irons are a good option for golfers looking for accurate, long-range, and comfortable distance irons.

II. My experience review with Wilson D9 Forged Irons

When I first took my swing with the Wilson D9 Forged Irons, I was immediately struck by the good feel and feedback they offered.

On the golf course, the Wilson D9 Forged Irons proved to be versatile and capable of producing a variety of shots. I found that they are good at approach shots, providing me with a combination of precision, control, and distance. The compact head design allowed for notable ball control, while the Power Hole technology added distance to my shots.

I was able to achieve favorable outcomes even with bunker shots, thanks to the clubs’ high launch angle that facilitated the ball’s smooth passage over the sand and gentle landing on the green. The irons are designed with a progressive cavity design, which offers extra forgiveness on longer irons, making it easier to control my shots from the bunker.

The Wilson D9 Forged Irons worked well for chip shots, giving me a comfortable feel and accurate feedback upon impact. The compact head design made it easier to control the trajectory and spin of my chip shots, providing me with more precision around the green.

To evaluate the efficacy of the Wilson D9 Forged Irons on the golf course, let us examine the impact of each factor on their performance.

With their undercut cavity and toe weighting, the Wilson D9 Forged Irons offer maximum forgiveness and make it easier for golfers to achieve accuracy, even on off-center strikes.

These game-improvement irons have a higher MOI due to the redistributed weight, providing greater forgiveness on miss-hits.

Not only that, but this technique also enables the exact shaping and grinding of the club head, further enhancing the overall quality of the forged iron.

2. Progressive Power Hole Technology

To ensure consistent distance and trajectory control, the Power Holes are strategically placed throughout the set, with larger holes on the longer irons and smaller holes on the shorter irons.

It’s worth noting that the power holes feature is only available on clubs up to the 7-iron and is not present on the 8-iron through gap wedge.

3. Seamless Transition

The Wilson D9 Forged Irons have a smooth and consistent transition from short irons to  long irons, resulting in a fluid swing and improved shot consistency. This seamless transition is achieved through the progressive shaping and weighting of the clubheads.

4. Wide Sole Design

The Wilson D9 Forged Irons have a wide sole design that offers increased stability and forgiveness when hitting off-center shots. This design also makes it easier to get the ball airborne, especially from difficult lies. The sole design gradually becomes narrower from the long to the short irons.
