TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedge Review
I. Is TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedge Worth It?
The TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 is a golf club that is designed to help golfers with their short game by providing precision and control around the greens. The club is made with high-quality materials and is available in different options to match different golfers’ swings and course conditions.
Although it is a high-end wedge, it can be suitable for both low and high-handicap golfers.
Its precise milling and soft carbon steel clubhead make it an effective choice for accurate shots. If you want to improve your short-game performance, the TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 wedge is worth considering.
II. My experience review with TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedge
I recently had the chance to try out the TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedge on the golf course. During my time with the club, I found it to be a versatile option for a variety of shots on the course.
When using these Milled Grind Wedges for chip shots, I noticed that they offered a responsive and precise impact on the ball, allowing me to land it where I wanted. Additionally, the club provided optimal spin and control, which helped me achieve the desired trajectory for each shot.
For bunker shots, I was happy with the Milled Grind 3 Wedge’s ability to deliver a high trajectory with just the right amount of spin. This allowed me to easily get the ball out of the sand without worrying about the club digging into the sand.
Using the club for full shots from the fairway also proved to be a positive experience. The Milled Grind 3 Wedge provided consistent ball flight and accuracy in both dry and wet conditions, making it easy to control the direction and distance of each shot.
My test stats
Wedge | Ball speed (mph) | Launch angle (degrees) | Back spin (rpm) | Carry distance (yards) | Total distance (yards) |
52° | 84.4 | 28.5 | 9852 | 101 | 101 |
56° | 77.2 | 30.4 | 10048 | 88 | 88 |
60° | 55.5 | 31.5 | 7650 | 53 | 53 |
When using the 52° wedge, I noted a ball speed of 84.4 and launch angle of 28.5, which resulted in a carry distance of 101 yards and a total distance of 101 yards. The backspin of 9852 was also notable and helped the ball stop quickly on the green.
With the 56° wedge, I observed a slightly lower ball speed of 77.2, but a slightly higher launch angle of 30.4. This resulted in a carry distance of 88 yards and a total distance of 88 yards. The backspin of 10048 was again impressive and aided in stopping the ball on the green.
Using the 60° wedge, I noticed a significant drop in ball speed to 55.5, but a very high launch angle of 33.5.
This resulted in a carry distance of 53 yards and a total distance of 53 yards. While the backspin of 7650 was still present, the lower ball speed and shorter distance may limit the wedge’s usefulness for certain shots.
Overall, I found the TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 wedge to be a reliable club on the course, with consistent backspin and stopping power on the green. The varying lofts also allowed for shot adjustment as needed.

VI. Alternatives
In order to enhance your gaming experience, I have identified two effective options that you can choose from, depending on your playing style and the type of course you prefer.
1) Cleveland CBX Wedge
The Cleveland CBX Wedge is a versatile club ideal for high-handicap players. Its forgiving design is perfect for those who struggle with consistent shots, thanks to its cavity back and advanced spin technology.
The weight behind the clubface enhances accuracy and distance, while the precision around the greens makes it a great choice for those who need help with their short game.
2) C3i Wedge
The C3i Wedge is best for golfers who find it challenging to get the ball up in the air and onto the green with traditional wedges. Its unique design features an extra-wide sole and a curved leading edge, which helps to eliminate chunk shots and makes it easier to hit out of sand traps and deep rough.
This wedge is also equipped with anti-rotational resistance technology, which helps to ensure that the clubface stays square through impact, delivering more consistent shots.
VII. My Take
The Milled Grind 3 wedge offers customization with noteworthy backspin and stopping power due to advanced technology.
While some golfers may find the bulbous appearance of the clubhead unappealing, its performance on the course should not be overlooked. The Milled Grind 3 wedge consistently delivered good ball speed, launch angle, and distance during testing.
