II. My experience review with PING G425 fairway wood

As a golfer, I am always looking for equipment that can help me take my game to the next level. Since PING is known for its forgiving fairway woods, I decided to test the PING G425 Fairway Wood.

One of the standout features of the G425 is its larger profile, which is combined with a tungsten weight in the sole. 

This combination provided me with a lower center of gravity, which is crucial in achieving a higher launch and lower spin. As a result, my shots have been more consistent, and I’ve been able to get more distance on my shots.

1. With G425 Max fairway wood

I tried the G425 Max Fairway Wood model and was pleasantly surprised by the performance. My first impression was that the woods no longer have the turbulators on the crown, giving it a clean and sleek matte finish.

While I understand that some players may miss the turbulators, I personally believe that it makes no difference in fairway woods or irons. However, they do play an important role in drivers as they help with aerodynamics.

One feature that I really appreciate in these woods is the 3-dot alignment system. It makes it easy to square up to the ball and the woods to sit square at the address. This is a huge plus for players like me who are always looking for ways to improve their alignment.

In terms of appearance, PING has definitely knocked it out of the park with these fairway woods. The visual appeal of the club design can potentially instill confidence in the player at the address. Performance-wise, I’ve been averaging between 260 to 270 yards of carry distance with these woods.

The spin consistency of the PING G425 Fairway Wood stood out as a notable aspect. The bottom of the face has a two-and-a-half degrees less loft, which helps in spin retention for all rounds of golf.

Next, I tried the G425 LST Fairway Wood, and I noticed that there was a huge difference in terms of spin compared to the Max model. 

Due to a faster swing, the club speed went up, and the spin rate was over 600 rpm lower than the Max. 

But the launch angle was pretty much the same. Based on my tests, I can say that the LST is a great choice for golfers with a high swing. 

3. With G425 SFT fairway wood

From my experience with the G425 Fairway Woods, I’ve found that the SFT model is especially good at making shots that lean to the left. This is likely because of how easy it is to turn the clubface over.

Also, compared to Max and LST, I’ve found that the SFT model has a lower spin rate but still goes a good distance.

Overall, this club is a great option for players looking to improve their ability to hit left-leaning shots.
